The genes of this dicistronic locus seem to encode mitochondrial transporters, so are named "Tyler" and "Shawn" after two energetic, 9 and 11 year old boys adopted by Chris Smith's parents. Name "Shawn" chosen by Chris Smith to mark his contribution to the FlyBase Release 3 annotation project.
