In scolopidia, eys is expressed In the the luminal space adjacent to the cilia dilation and the scolopidium base.

eys protein is expressed in the base of the cilia in all sensilla of antenna segment 3. It is used as a marker for the cilia base.

Expression of eys is detected in the extracellular space surrounding the cilia of the mechanosensory bristles of the abdominal cuticle.

eys protein is localized to the extracellular dendritic cap surrounding the tip of sensory dendrites. Antibodies to eys label the scolopales of chordotonal organs, and a dot at the tip of each eo dendrite.
