CG6712 transcripts are observed in embryos and adult females. The female transcripts are retricted to the ovaries. In situ hybridization reveals that ovarian transcripts are localized primarily in the nurse cells in stage 10 egg chambers. Transcripts are ubiquitously distributed in blastoderm embryos and are restricted to neuroblasts and the gut at later embryonic stages.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see GBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene in combination with dsRNA against gig results in suppression of the final average cell size, with it being closer to the control average cell size, rather than the average cell size resulting from knockdown of the candidate gene alone.
Several aspects of the organisation of the divergently transcribed, coordinately expressed Dnmt2 and CG6712 open reading frames suggest that they are components of a transposon-like element (although each of the two open reading frames appears to be encoded by a single copy locus in the genome at 33C--33D). Dnmt2 and CG6712 are tightly linked and neither open reading frame is interrupted by introns. There is a 12bp inverted repeat close to the 3' ends of both the open reading frames. Sequences homologous to Dnmt2 are present in a limited distribution of Drosophila species. Overall orientation not stated: Dnmt2- CG6712+
