Please look at the allele reports for the complete phenotype data
SL2 cells treated with dsRNA against Grip71 show a clear increase in the mitotic index compared to control cells.
RNAi screen using dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene results in the failure of γ-tubulin to localize to the spindle, without affecting its localization to the pole, and the formation of an aberrantly long spindle when assayed in S2 cells. This phenotype can be observed when the screen is performed with or without Cdc27 dsRNA.

          hide Comments About Role
Grip71 may act as a scaffold via its WD repeats in the gamma-tubulin ring complex. Unlike other subunits of the complex, Grip71 does not promote GTP binding to γ-tubulin.
          hide Comments About Molecular Function
          Grip71 associates with Grip163, l(1)dd4, Grip128, Grip84 and γ-Tubulin.
