Additional transcripts may exist: a very low abundance alternatively spliced transcript identified by RT-PCR (FBrf0213492), encoding a short 123 residue polypeptide, is not annotated given its low abundance and unknown function.
There is only one protein coding transcript and one polypeptide associated with this gene

RpL22-like transcripts are detected by RT-PCR in embryos, larvae, and adults as well as in male and female heads and gonads. They are far more abundant in testis than in any other tissue.
RpL22-like is enriched in testis but not ovary. It is also present in fly heads. Immunolocalizaton in the adult male reproductive tissue shows that RpL22-like is expressed exclusively within sperm cells.

Please Note FlyBase no longer curates genomic clone accessions so this list may not be complete
Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see GBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
polyclonal
The RpL22-like gene may have been derived from the RpL22 gene by retroposition.
The RpL22-like gene may have been derived from the RpL22 gene by retroposition sometime after the divergence of the Sophophora and Drosophila subgenera.
Not a Minute gene.
Expression is enriched in embryonic gonads.
