Mkp3 transcript is expressed in the larva in presumptive wing veins L3 and L4; expression is interrupted by the dorsal-ventral boundary. In pupal wing wing discs, Mkp3 transcript is expressed in all longitudinal veins; maximal expression is observed at 24 hrs APF. During embryogenesis, Mkp3 is uniformly distributed in syncitial embryos; this early expression is likely maternal. At early stage 5, Mkp3 transcript is localized to the anterior and posterior ends of the embryo; at late stage 5, there is an additional band extending from 40% to 85% egg length. At stage 7, Mkp3 transcript is expressed in the dorsally invaginating mesoderm. At stage 11, transcipt is expressed in invaginating trachael pits. At stage 13, Mkp3 is expressed in the visceral mesoderm, and at stage 17, in the dorsal vessel, at the midline of the embryo, and in apodemes.
