Vhl is required for halting cell migration and tube outgrowth at the end of the tracheal tube formation.
Loss of function mutations in
Vhl show ectopic branching and looping in the tracheal system accompanied by breakage in the main trunk.
Reduction of
Vhl activity can either disrupt or induce tracheal growth, depending on the nature of the tracheal branches.
