Slbp transcript is detected in all developmental stages, with highest amounts in 0-8 hr embryos and adult females. Maternal Slbp transcript disappears by the end of the syncytial blastoderm stage. Ubiquitous zygotic expression begins at the cellular blastoderm stage, and is maintained during early germ-band extension. At later stages, expression decreases in G1 arrested cells and is restricted to proliferating and endoreduplicating cells.

Please Note FlyBase no longer curates genomic clone accessions so this list may not be complete
Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see GBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.

Mutant analysis shows that phosphorylation of Slbp at T230 is necessary for its localization to the cytoplasm and subsequent function in the 3'-end processing of histone mRNA.
Slbp is required for 3' end processing of histone pre-mRNA. Overall orientation not stated: Pglym78+ ligatin- Slbp- Rpn2+
Slbp-dependant processing plays an important role in coupling histone mRNA production with the cell cycle.
The pattern of histone mRNA accumulation is disrupted in mutant embryos.
