For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
Gr32a is important for suppressing male courtship towards males and mated females.
Gr32a and Gr68a are different splice variants of a single gene in the D.virilis group, namely the Dvir\Gr68a, Dlit\Gr68a, Dezo\Gr68a, Dlac\Gr68a, Dfla\Gr68a, Dbor\Gr68a, Dmon\Gr68a, Dkan\Gr68a, Dame\Gr68a, Dnov\Gr68a and Dlum\Gr68a genes. The first and second exons of Gr32a are located within intron2 of the virilis Gr68a genes. Exons 3 and 4 of Gr32a are common for both receptors. Gr68a is completely intronless, which may be indication that it is a retrotransposed copy, whereas Gr32a has an intron-exon structure similar to Dvir\Gr68a.
