"Obp83e" and "Obp83f" were treated as separate genes in FBrf0141547, but in FBrf0151320 it was reported that they form a single gene with two six-cysteine OBP motifs joined together. RT-PCR with primers that cross the boundary of the two six-cysteine motifs produces a single band, confirming that "Obp83e" and "Obp83f" are encoded by a single transcript. This is also supported by direct sequencing of the PCR products. The single gene that incorporates "Obp83e" and "Obp83f" is named Obp83ef to reflect its hybrid nature.
