Catalytic Activity (EC)
Experimental Evidence
ATP + 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol = ADP + 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol 3-phosphate (2.7.1.107)
Predictions / Assertions
ATP + 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol = ADP + 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol 3-phosphate (2.7.1.107)
ATP + NAD(+) = ADP + NADP(+) (2.7.1.23)
Summaries
Gene Group (FlyBase)
DIACYLGLYCEROL KINASES -
Diacylglycerol kinases catalyze the phosphorylation of diacylglycerol to form phosphatidic acid. (Adapted from FBrf0161471).
Protein Function (UniProtKB)
Upon cell stimulation converts the second messenger diacylglycerol into phosphatidate, initiating the resynthesis of phosphatidylinositols and attenuating protein kinase C activity (By similarity). May have a role in the development of the embryonic nervous system and the function of the adult nervous system and muscle; regulating signal transduction in neurons.

The Drosophila and porcine enzymes are homologous

over a 430aa region that comprises the catalytic domain of the porcine

DGK. The region of homology in the Drosophila protein is split into two

clusters of 194aa and 236aa that are widely separated. The ORF size

predicted from the cDNA and from the genomic sequence differ by 5 aa. The

shorter protein is predicted by the cDNA.

dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene tested in RNAi screen for effects on Kc167 and S2R+ cell morphology.

A membrane-associated diacylglycerol kinase (which may be the rdgA gene product) has been partially purified from Drosophila heads and characterised.

Dgk gene product is expressed predominantly in the embryonic CNS and adult nervous system and muscle.

Dgk has been cloned and its structure and expression pattern characterized.

Dgk has been isolated and characterised.
