CYTOPLASMIC LARGE RIBOSOMAL PROTEINS -: Cytoplasmic ribosomes are found on the endoplasmic reticulum and in the cytoplasm. They translate all mRNAs produced from nuclear genes and perform the majority of cellular protein synthesis. Ribosomes are formed by two ribonucleoprotein subunits, large and small. The principle function of the large subunit is to bind tRNA during the synthesis of polypeptides. (Adapted from FBrf0205398).
