S2 cells treated with dsRNA directed against eater show decreased uptake of S.aureus by phagocytosis compared to control cells.
Silencing of eater in S2 cells results in a strong decrease in phagocytosis of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in these cells. The defect is in the recognition and binding of the pathogens.
