C3G is expressed ubiquitously in embryos with stronger expression in the founder cells of the developing visceral mesoderm. It is also observed in the visceral mesoderm at later stages, in somatic muscle and in the CNS.
C3G transcript expression is detected starting at embryonic stage 4, with low levels throughout the embryo, and high levels at the anterior and posterior poles. A moderate level of expression is detected in all tissues throughout embryonic development, with higher levels of expression in some tissues. At stage 11, levels are high in the visceral mesoderm. At late stage 14, a segmentally repeated pattern of expression becomes apparent. Expression is also detected in the hindgut and foregut.

Please Note FlyBase no longer curates genomic clone accessions so this list may not be complete
Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see GBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.

dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene tested in RNAi screen for effects on Kc167 and S2R+ cell morphology.
Overactivation of C3G during development results in cell fate changes and overproliferation, mimicking overactivity of the RAS-MAPK pathway.
