For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
The appropriate number of germ cells is incorporated into the gonad in out mutant embryos, but germ cells ectopic to the gonad persist.
The correct number of germ cells reach the gonads in out mutants, but the germ cells that fail to reach the gonads do not undergo cell death and continue to show germ cell characteristics (in contrast to wild type, where germ cells that fail to reach the gonad are eliminated by programmed cell death).
