Gene Group (FlyBase)
FATTY ACID ELONGASES -
Fatty acid elongases are conserved from yeast to mammals and mediate elongation of fatty acids into very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs, i.e. with acyl chains of 18 carbon atoms or longer). They are bound to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane where they are believed to perform the first step (condensation) in the elongation cycle. VLCFAs are most commonly found in sphingolipids and are essential for sphingolipid formation and function. (Adapted from PMID:16564093.)

Model Confidence:
  • Very high (pLDDT > 90)
  • Confident (90 > pLDDT > 70)
  • Low (70 > pLDDT > 50)
  • Very low (pLDDT < 50)

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

bond transcripts were observed in spermatocytes but not in spermatogonia. In embryos, they were observed in groups of cells that give rise to steroid-derived molecules such as oenocytes and corpus alatum. They were also observed in the intesting. In ovaries, they were observed in stage S9 and S10 egg chambers
