VACUOLAR ATPASE V1 DOMAIN SUBUNITS -
The V1 domain of V-ATPases is a peripheral membrane domain composed of eight different subunits (A-H) that are expressed as multiple isoforms in a tissue-specific manner. The A and B subunits form a hexameric ring and ATP hydrolysis occurs at catalytic sites located at the interface of these subunits. The other V1 subunits interact with the V0 domain. Subunit of the peripheral V1 complex of vacuolar ATPase. Subunit C is necessary for the assembly of the catalytic sector of the enzyme and is likely to have a specific function in its catalytic activity. V-ATPase is responsible for acidifying a variety of intracellular compartments in eukaryotic cells.
