Low-frequency RNA-Seq exon junction(s) not annotated.
Shares 5' exon(s) with upstream non-coding gene; shared promoter (one isoform only of this gene).
Homodimer. Heterodimer with Ten-m; the interaction occurs at the neuromuscular junction.

Please Note FlyBase no longer curates genomic clone accessions so this list may not be complete
Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see GBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
FlyBase curator comment: Although 'cbd' has precedence over 'Ten-a' as the symbol first used for this gene, 'Ten-a' has been retained as the FlyBase symbol (following the merge of two Gene Reports) owing to the larger body of literature using 'Ten-a', and with the agreement of authors L. Liu and M. Heisenberg.

Ten-a instructs synaptic partner matching of projection neuron dendrites to the appropriate olfactory receptor neuron axon through homophilic attraction.
A recently produced deletion of Ten-a that removes the entire gene does not lead to lethality. The lethality and pair-rule roles reported for Ten-a mutants in FBrf0204395 therefore cannot be attributed to Ten-a, but to second site mutations.
RNAi generated by PCR using primers directed to this gene causes a cell growth and viability phenotype when assayed in Kc167 and S2R+ cells.
dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene tested in RNAi screen for effects on Kc167 and S2R+ cell morphology.
Mutations causing structural defects in the adult central complex also alter larval behavioural phenotypes.
Behavioural and anatomical studies demonstrate that central brain lesions can be interpreted behaviourally.
Some alleles show abnormal position and internal structure of optic lobes.
