Mobilization of the P-element occurred in animals carrying P{RS3} on a second chromosome SM6a balancer chromosome and P{Δ2-3}99B, a stable source of transposase, on a marked third chromosome. A second set of mobilization experiments used dysgenic males carrying P{RS3} on the Y chromosome and P{Δ2-3}99B on the third chromosome. Stocks were generated and balanced in an w1118 isogenic background.
Flanking genomic sequences were obtained by sequencing of inverse PCR products, and were mapped by alignment to the genomic sequence.
