Michael,
Based on new experiments it appears most probable that flex is an
allele of bb.
As I mentioned before we also sequenced the insertion site of
P{FRT(whs)}9-2 and found that it is inserted at 18C1 and not 18E as
listed in flybase. We could send you the sequence if you would like to
put it into flybase.
