REDfly cis-regulatory modules (CRMs) are imported into FlyBase as "regulatory_region" features. With each update, new features are added, coordinates for existing features are updated as necessary, and features no longer at REDfly are deleted from FlyBase. For each CRM, the coordinates, associated gene, publications, REDfly synonym and REDfly ID are obtained. These CRMs are grouped under the FlyBase dataset "REDfly CRMs", and shown in the "Regulatory Region" track. The majority of "regulatory_region" features in FlyBase are derived from REDfly (all but 272 of them).

Update 1: 2012.6.19. 1,828 CRMs (regulatory regions) added to FlyBase.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 2: 2018.1.9. REDfly v5.4.1. 542 CRMs (regulatory regions) were added, coordinates were corrected for 11 CRMs, and 61 CRMs were deleted in FlyBase. This update was limited to CRMs identified in vivo (not in cell culture), and excluded regions from Kvon et al., 2014 (FBrf0225840), which have already been curated as part of the VDRC-VT GAL4 driver reagent collection (FBlc0000718). With this update, there are now 2,308 REDfly CRMs in FlyBase.
