| Drosophila yakuba was formally described by Burla, 1954, although it had been previously noted by Nolte and Stoch, 1950 under the name Drosophila opisthomelaina (McEvey, 1990). It is widespread in the Afrotropical region, including Madagascar. Predominantly a species of the open savanna (Lachaise et al., 1988). | |
