First described as an insertion associated with the Ubxbx-8 mutation. The results of whole genome Southern transfer experiments indicate that this element is repeated within the genome and that the internal SalI fragment is conserved in length. The ends of the element hybridize to each other. Restriction map p. 1101 in Lindsley, Zimm, 1992.
 
May be an LTR_retrotransposon (SO:0000186).
