Comments

Expression is enriched in embryonic gonads.

Discordant phylogenetic relationships for different parts of the Stalker genome strongly suggest a mosaic structure of the Stalker genome.

The Stalker element has 405bp terminal direct repeats that contain short inverted repeats. Stalker system of hybrid dysgenesis differs from previously known cases: it does not depend on the direction of the cross, destabilization continues a long time after initial crosses and mutations may occur at different stages of development. Stalker transposition does not cause other mobile elements to move, or they move only extremely rarely.
