Insertion lines from this collection were assessed for inclusion in the Gene Disruption Project collection.
Genomic location previously reported as 2L:8071600..8071608 .
In wandering third instar, low level of expression in larval brain and imaginal discs; higher level in gonad. (Not specified which imaginal discs.)
Enhancer trap expression occurs in thedorso-medial portion of the third antennal segment in a pattern similar tothat of the sensilla basiconica. One or a few cells in the second antennalsegment are stained that may be part of Johnston's organ. Staining is alsoobserved on the anterior margin of the wing, in the CNS, and inreproductive tissue.

Location 2L:8071599-8071600 confirmed by FlyBase alignment of dbGSS accession AQ026406 to D. melanogaster arm Release_4 and heterochromatin Release_3.2b. Insertion orientation confirmed.
This insertion was listed in the BDGP database as a lethal or sterile line during the period 1994-1999, but was not verified as such prior to the summary publication (FBrf0111489). Reasons for excluding lines from the collection described in FBrf0111489 include presence of more than one P insertion on the mutant chromosome, separation of lethality (or sterility) from the location of the insertion, and loss of lethality (or sterility) from the stock. Further information is available from http://www.fruitfly.org/bfd/ and from Dr. Allan Spradling (spradling@mail1.ciwemb.edu).
May be multiple insertion line: in situ data (27C1-27C9) conflict with location inferred from flanking sequence (28E1).
