In the ventral nerve cords from stage 16 egMz360/egMz360 embryos, the number of hemisegments showing loss of ability to take up serotonin is not significantly increased by leaX123/leaX123. Loss of serotonin uptake activity in the ventral nerve cords of stage 16 egMz360/egMz360 embryos is suppressed by the presence of leaEP2582/leaEP2582.
In the ventral nerve cords of stage 16 egMz360 mutant embryos, there is a loss of ability to take up serotonin in approximately 1/4 of hemisegments.
Homozygotes have a held out wing phenotype.
Mutants exhibit an almost wild type pattern of serotonin neurons in the abdominal region but only single cells in the thoracic segments. nub and zfh2 staining reveals the more medial serotonin cell of the mitotic pair is lost: the EW1 neuron.
Homozygotes have a \'wings held out\' phenotype.
