Statement

rut2080, Itp-r83A05616 double mutants fail to moult from the second to the third larval instar and perish in the second larval instar. Several of the double mutant larvae have tracheal endings characteristic of the first instar larva.
Homozygotes can molt to the third instar and eventually die primarily as pupae. A few adult survivors do survive.
The response of homozygous Itp-r83A05616 and Itp-r83A05616/Itp-r83AXR12 survivors to all concentrations of ethyl acetate is normal.
Almost 50% of homozygotes moult into third instar larvae and pupae. Both moults are delayed compared to heterozygotes. The remaining 50% of homozygotes survive at the second larval stage for an extended time period and then appear to moult directly into pupae. Very few homozygous adults eclose, those that do have no obvious morphological defects. The larval moulting delay in homozygotes is rescued by 20-hydroxyecdysone.
