Dataset

A set of mutant stocks derived by insertional mutagenesis using the P-element construct P{PZ}; most lines have a lethal or sterile phenotype. The P{PZ} construct carries a ry[+] visible marker, Ecol\lacZ enhancer trap sequences, and bacterial sequences that allow plasmid rescue.
Insertion lines from this collection were assessed for inclusion in the Gene Disruption Project collection.

Description
What does this section display?
This section contains items that were added to this record for each release. It currently only tracks new links between this FlyBase report and other FlyBase data classes (e.g. genes, references, stocks) or controlled vocabulary terms (e.g. GO, anatomy terms).
What does this section not display?
This section does not currently display links that were removed or gene model changes.

hide Detailed Description
Statement
Reference
Homozygous clones in the retina result in a mildly disorganised ommatidial pattern and a slight reduction in eye size. Females carrying homozygous germ line clones are completely sterile and fail to lay eggs. Most egg chambers in these females can proceed normally through the early and middle stages of oogenesis, but arrest at the stage when the nurse cells rapidly transfer their contents to the oocyte. The arrested egg chambers have enlarged nurse cells and a small poorly developed oocyte. The actin filaments that normally tether the nurse cell nuclei mostly fail to form. The nurse cell nuclei are inappropriately positioned close to the ring canals and are sometimes seen to stretch partially through the ring canals.
