hide Detailed Description
Statement
Reference
Homozygous second instar larvae have many split denticles per segment.
Mutant cells in trcS066917a large clones in the pupal wing often have an irregular shape, and their average cross-sectional area is ~1.6-fold larger than control neighboring cells. Hair morphogenesis is delayed in the trcS066917a mutant cells. trcS066917a mutants show a multiple wing hair phenotype. Expression of trcS292A.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 in a trcS066917a/+ background enhances the multiple wing hair phenotype seen when trcS066917a is expressed in a wild-type background.
Expression of Hsap\NDRG1Scer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI rescues both the lethality and the multiple wing hair phenotype of trcS066917a mutants.
fry1 trcS066917a matse03077 triple heterozygotes have a weak multiple wing hair phenotype in 40% of wings. The split denticle phenotype of matse03077 trcS066917a double mutant second instar larvae is no more severe than the split denticle phenotype of each single mutant.
Hemizygous flies have branched arista laterals.
trcS066917a fry1 double mutant clones do not have a stronger multiple wing hair phenotype (5.37 hairs/cell) than either single mutant.
Homozygous clones have a multiple wing hair phenotype (5.74 hairs/cell).
Mutant cells in homozygous clones in the wing show a strong multiple hair cell phenotype. The number of hairs per cell varies between different clones from an average of 3.5 hairs per cell to more than 7 hairs per cell. Mutant cells in pupal wings have on average a weaker phenotype than clones in adult wings. A substantial number of cells in the clone in pupal wings do not have a multiple wing hair phenotype, in contrast to adult wings. When a wing cell produces a single hair in pupal clones, the hair appears to be the same length as neighbouring wild-type hairs. Only mutant cells show the multiple hair phenotype in pupal wings containing homozygous clones.
