In drlP1, cas3921 and drlP3.765, cas3921 double mutants, fibres abnormally cross the midline above a flattened fan-shaped body in 55% of flies, the mushroom bodies β and β\' lobes are fully fused in 33% of flies and the ellipsoid body is ventrally cleaved. In nobKS49/cas3921 flies, unlike the single mutants, individuals exhibit fibres abnormally crossing the midline above the fan shaped body.
Homozygotes do not have any visible defects in the adult brain. cas290/cas3921 escapers reveal mushroom bodies that lack β and β\' lobes.
