Expression of caps[GS13628] driven by Scer\GAL4[Dll-md23] causes visible defects in the adult leg. Mutant legs display unusual epidermal protuberances or internal vesicles. Cells expressing caps[GS13628] in the leg imaginal disc driven by Scer\GAL4[ptc-559.1] often invade the basal side of the posterior compartment and intermingle with posterior cells. The cell-invasion phenotype is most prominent in the central part of the leg disc. In extreme cases, the caps[GS13628]-expressing cells become aligned in a circular pattern. The mutant animals hatch with malformed legs and are unable to walk.
