BoNT-C-LC corresponds to the light chain of Clostridium botulinum neurotoxin type C. BoNT-C-LC can be used as a tool to inhibit neuron activity; it is an endopeptidase that selectively cleaves both syntaxin and SNAP-25, resulting in synaptic vesicles that cannot undergo the normal cycle of exocytosis and endocytosis and preventing neurotransmitter release (reviewed in PMID:15979165).
