(Golic and Lindquist, 1989) Expression of a fragment of w genomic DNA with a 2.2kb deletion of 3' flanking sequences and a reduction in the size of the largest intron to 356bp is driven by a 388bp fragment of an Hsp70 gene. (Klemenz et al., 1987) Construct: A 'mini-white' gene constructed by deletion of the XbaI-HindII fragment from the long 5' intron. Carried by the W6 and W8 series of vectors.

	construct_comment: One of a series of sev mini-gene constructs, some with endogeneous promoter sequences, others with an Hsp70 promoter. Of this series only P{sev2} is capable of rescuing sev^-. (Basler et al., 1989) report comment: Hsp70 component of chimeric construct is probably derived from the Hsp70Bb locus. (Basler et al., 1989)
