Description
What does this section display?
This section contains items that were added to this record for each release. It currently only tracks new links between this FlyBase report and other FlyBase data classes (e.g. genes, references, stocks) or controlled vocabulary terms (e.g. GO, anatomy terms).
What does this section not display?
This section does not currently display links that were removed or gene model changes.

Allele Ecol\lacZen.C
Reference(s) (Kassis, 1990, Kassis et al., 1992, Kassis et al., 1991)
Molecular data
Ecol\lacZ expression is governed by a fragment of en promoter extending from -2.4kb to +188bp upstream of the transcription start site.
Construct: Ecol\lacZ expression is governed by a fragment of en promoter extending from -2.4kb to +188bp upstream of the transcription start site.

Allele w+mC
Reference(s) (Pirrotta, 1988)
Molecular data
Minigene of the white cDNA.
4.15kb SpeI fragment of the w gene that carries a deletion of a large part of the first intron and the regulatory region is reduced to 300bp preceding the transcription start site.
Construct: A 'mini-white' gene constructed by deletion of the HindIII-XbaI fragment from the long 5' intron. Carried by the Casper series of vectors.

Allele wen.C
Reference(s) (Kassis et al., 1991, Kassis, 1990)
Molecular data
w expression is governed by a fragment of en promoter extending from -2.4kb to +188bp upstream of the transcription start site. Intron 1 of Dvir\en is fused to the 5' end of en and acts as a 1kb spacer between en sequences and w+mC.

Statement
Reference
In embryos, lower levels of expression observed in first 3 (anterior) stripes; in subsequent stripes, expression in even-numbered stripes is higher than that in odd-numbered stripes. Note: Results using assay for β-gal activity differ from those detecting the β-gal RNA. The stripe pattern persists into late stages of embryogenesis in the former case, but not in the latter.

construct_comment: One of several constructs designated P{en2}, all of which contain 2.4kb of en 5\' flanking sequences and en intron 1 sequences.
construct_comment: Expression observed in homozygotes versus heterozygotes; tested for proximity dependence (transvection).
construct_comment: One of a series of constructs analyzed for effects of en sequences upon expression of the adjacent w+mC gene.
construct_comment: One of a series of constructs used to characterize en regulatory elements contained within the first intron.
