1980bp of Ubi-p63E promoter (and first four amino acids) directs the expression of a 9 amino acid nuclear localization sequence fused to 40 amino acids of Ecol\lacZ (from its N-terminus) fused to full length GFP followed by Hsp27 polyadenylation sequence.

In early embryo, used as nuclear marker for identification of cells within mitotic domains.

Shows highly fluorescent green nuclei and less fluorescent cytoplasm. (Fusion protein contains nuclear localization signal.) There is a long delay between zygotic expression and appearance of fluorescence.
