Molecular data
Insertion of foreign DNA, including w+mW.hs, in the SacI site at position 789 of the Mos1 transposable element.
Dmau\mariner\T coding region interrupted at position 789 by introduction of w+mW.hs.
Construct: Fragment of Mos1 up to nucleotide 787, including the Dmau\mariner 5' terminal repeat.

Reference(s) (Lidholm et al., 1993, Hartl et al., 1997)
Molecular data
Construct: In frame translational fusion of P\T to Ecol\lacZ, in the second exon of the P element. The fusion includes the P element promoter. The P-element 5' end is from pUChsneo.

Molecular data
A mini-w gene is expressed under the control of an Hsp70 promoter.
w gene expression is under the influence of FLIP recombinase.
Expression of a fragment of w genomic DNA with a 2.2kb deletion of 3' flanking sequences and a reduction in the size of the largest intron to 356bp is driven by a 388bp fragment of an Hsp70 gene.
Construct: A 'mini-white' gene constructed by deletion of the XbaI-HindII fragment from the long 5' intron. Carried by the W6 and W8 series of vectors.

Statement
Reference
Basal pattern of stripes, restricted to epidermal clusters of cells. Expression localized to nucleus.
Expression pattern dependent upon position of insertion in genome. Basal pattern observed in approximately 30% of transformants: in extended germ band embryos, weak expression in dorsal epidermis, stronger in alternate segments.
