Molecular data
500bp region extending from position -3.8kb to -2.3kb, the full length eve stripe 3+7 enhancer, mediates expression of a minimal eve-Ecol\lacZ fusion (eve TATA box and basal promoter, 100bp eve 5' untranslated leader and the first 22 codons of the protein coding sequence fused to codon 5 of Ecol\lacZ).
Construct: Ecol\lacZ expression is driven by an eve stripe 3 enhancer, extending between 3.4kb and 3.9kb upstream of the eve transcription start site and the eve minimal promoter.

Allele w+mC
Reference(s) (Small et al., 1996, Yan et al., 1996)
Molecular data
Minigene of the white cDNA.
4.15kb SpeI fragment of the w gene that carries a deletion of a large part of the first intron and the regulatory region is reduced to 300bp preceding the transcription start site.
Construct: A 'mini-white' gene constructed by deletion of the HindIII-XbaI fragment from the long 5' intron. Carried by the Casper series of vectors.

Reflects expression of eve stripes 3 and 7.
In embryo, expressed stripes 3 and 7, a subset of the normal 7 eve stripes; expression in stripe 3 stronger than that in stripe 7. A small dorsal and anterior patch of expression is also observed; this is shown to be due to vector sequences in the P-transposon construct.
