Description

A genomic EcoRI fragment from within the regulatory regions of the spalt complex, within the first salr intron, is placed upstream of a weak P-element promoter followed by sequence encoding nuclear-localized lacZ.

1.30kb fragment from a salr intron is fused upstream of lacZ.

Reference

Embryonic expression is detected in subsets of cells in the PNS where endogenous salm is expressed, as well as in cells in the CNS where endogenous salm and salr are not expressed. Expression is also detected in regions of the epidermis, partially overlapping with the endogenous expression of salm. In the larval CNS and in the wing disc, expression is detected in cells that normally express salm and salr, but additional ectopic expression is also detected.
