Drives expression in calcium-sensing neuron of labellar S-type taste bristles, and in a subset of leg taste bristle chemosensory neurons that project into the adult ventral nerve cord; and in gustatory receptor neurons of the terminal organ in larvae.
Scer\GAL4ppk23.2.695 drives expression in 10 neurons that innervate the terminal organ, and in one internal sensory neuron located along the larval pharynx.
ScerGAL4ppk23.2.695 drives expression in gustatory receptor neurons in the proboscis and in the legs. These neurons labeled with ScerGAL4ppk23.2.695 do not overlap with expression of ScerGAL4ppk28.PC, which labels the water-sensing neurons, ScerGAL4Gr64f.9.7 which labels the sugar-responsive neurons,or with candidate pheromone receptor ScerGAL4Gr32a.3.776. A few positive ScerGAL4ppk23.2.695 neurons in the proboscis co-express AvicGFPGr66a.3x.IRES.2x which labels bitter-responsive neurons, but there is no co-expression in the leg sensory neurons. Expression of ScerGAL4ppk23.2.695 in the legs marks more than one cell per bristle and it overlaps with that of fruP1.LexA.
There is sexual dimorphism in the leg gustatory receptor neurons labeled by ScerGAL4ppk23.2.695 : twice as many cells are labeled in males compared to females and the neuronal projections of males in the prothoracic ganglion cross the midline whereas female ones do not.
