General Information
Term gemma ID (Ontology) MI:0983 (Molecular Interactions)
Definition GEMMA is a method to study protein complexes in solution: a diluted protein sample is transmitted\ninto the gas phase by a charged reduced electrospray process. The generated particles, each\ncontaining one protein molecule with a +1 charge, are separated according to size in a differential\nmobility analyzer and subsequently quantified by a particle counter. In contrast to mass spectrometry,\nthis method is run at atmospheric pressure and measures the diameter of the particle rather than the mass.[ PubMed:16861739 ]
