Homozygotes are lethal. Heterozygotes exhibit malformed rhabdomeres. Clones of homozygous cells in the eye disc show the characteristic rough surface of the eye and photoreceptor axon guidance is defective.
Imprecise excision of the P-element construct P{lArB}aosA254. Clones generated in the wild type eye by X ray induced somatic recombination display one or two additional photoreceptors in half of the ommatidia.
Homozygous clones in the compound eye display additional outer photoreceptors in the central region of the clone but not at the borders and defects in rhabdomere structure are also present.
No interaction with P{sev-svp1} or P{sev-svp2} exists.
Deletion from position -9 to -4.5 (coordinate 0 is the inversion breakpoint in st) of the argos region.
