Inversion breakpoint separating the Actn promoter and initial 38 codons from the remainder of the open reading frame.
actin filament & follicle cell | somatic clone
Actn8/+ mutants do not show obvious morphological defects of the indirect flight muscle, but do show significant, intermittent reductions in wing beat frequency, as compared to wild type.
Actn8 follicle cell clones do not result in the production of abnormal eggs. At stage 10, some of these clones show a normal actin fiber pattern, while others show an actin fiber density that differs from wild-type cells. Any differences in actin density are cell autonomous.
Hemizygous male larvae are smaller and more sluggish than age-matched control larvae, but the mutant larvae do show significant motility. Body wall muscles of hemizygous male larvae retain the characteristic striated pattern of thin filaments seen in wild-type larvae.
Hemizygous larvae hatch somewhat later than their wild-type counterparts. They appear small and flaccid and move poorly. Larval growth does not occur.
Phenotype of homozygous germ line clones is abnormal oogenesis. Polyphasic lethality attributed to In(1)HC207.
Actn8 has abnormal flight phenotype, suppressible by Zasp52MI02988/Zasp52[+]
Actn8, vri[+]/vriunspecified has abnormal locomotor behavior | dominant phenotype
Actn8/Actn[+], vriunspecified has abnormal locomotor behavior phenotype
Actn8, wupAhdp-2 has flightless | dominant phenotype
Actn8, vriunspecified has metathoracic leg phenotype
Zasp52MI02988/+ suppresses the decreased wing beat frequency observed in Actn8/+ mutants, but Zasp52MI02988/+, Actn8/+ mutants do not show obvious morphological defects of the indirect flight muscle, as compared to wild type.
Actn8 vriunspecified double heterozygotes have progressive locomotory defects affecting the rear legs.
Actn8 is rescued by ActnRpS27A.PD
Lefevre.
