The severely undergrown wing phenotype seen in adult flies expressing exScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU cannot be suppressed by co-expression of ZyxΔ208-231.Scer\UAS : the wings of flies expressing both exScer\UAS.cBa and ZyxΔ208-231.Scer\UAS are even smaller than those of animals expressing exScer\UAS.cBa alone, the wing blade being lost altogether.
Co-expression of exScer\UAS.cBa partially suppresses the F-actin accumulation caused by expression of cpadsRNA.Scer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4hh-Gal4 from the early third larval instar onwards (the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele is used to restrict expression before this stage).
Co-expression of exScer\UAS.cBa in clones expressing ykiS168A.Scer\UAS.T:SV5\V5, wtsScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC and hpoScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI decreases the size and number of clones recovered in the wing disc.
Clones co-expressing ykiS111A.S168A.S250A.Scer\UAS.T:SV5\V5 exScer\UAS.cBa, wtsScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC and hpoScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI in the wing disc are large and round.
Clones of cells in the wing or eye disc in which wtsScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, hpoScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG and exScer\UAS.cBa are over-expressed together with ykiS111A.S168A.S250A.Scer\UAS.T:SV5\V5 generally overgrow compared to control clones, but can be less overgrown than ykiS111A.S168A.S250A.Scer\UAS.T:SV5\V5-expressing clones alone. This is most evident in the wing pouch.
The overgrowth and folding of the eye disc induced by Scer\GAL4GMR.PU-mediated expression of ykiS111A.S168A.S250A.Scer\UAS.T:SV5\V5 is largely suppressed by co-expression of wtsScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC, hpoScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG and exScer\UAS.cBa.

The overgrowth and folding of the eye disc induced by Scer\GAL4GMR.PU-mediated expression of ykiS111A.S168A.S250A.Scer\UAS.T:SV5\V5 is partly suppressed by co-expression of hpoScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG and exScer\UAS.cBa together.
Eye clones of ft8 misexpressing exScer\UAS.cBa, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF at 25oC exhibit small eyes, indicating that the small-eye phenotype produced by misexpressing exScer\UAS.cBa is epistatic to the eye size resulting from ft8.
The loss of inter-ommatidial cells in the developing retinas of exScer\UAS.cBa; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF animals at the mid-pupal stage is completely suppressed by hpo42-47/hpo42-47 or in wtsx1/wtsx1 somatic clones. In each case, the resulting retinas have an excess of inter-ommatidial cells as do wtsx1/wtsx1 or hpo42-47/hpo42-47 animals. Heterozygosity for wtsx1 partially suppresses the reduction in size and patterning defects seen in the eyes of exScer\UAS.cBa; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF animals.
Overexpression of exScer\UAS.cBa in the developing eyes of ft422 mutant heads, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in small and rough eyes, very similar to the overexpression of exScer\UAS.cBa in a wild-type background, indicating that exScer\UAS.cBa expression suppresses the ft422 mutant eye phenotype. ft422 mutant phenotypes, such as extra vibrassae, are still observed in the head cuticle, where exScer\UAS.cBa is not overexpressed (under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF).
Co-expression of banEP3622 almost completely suppresses the eye phenotype caused by expression of exScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev. The eye phenotype caused by expression of exScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev is enhanced by Df(3L)banΔ1/+. Co-expression of both CycDScer\UAS.cMa and Cdk4Scer\UAS.cMa in animals expressing exScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev increases the overall size of the eye but has little effect on the roughness and blistering. The eye phenotype caused by expression of exScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev is not altered by Cdk43/+.
Addition of BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa to exScer\UAS.cBa, Scer\GAL4hs.2sev flies rescues the phenotypes seen in exScer\UAS.cBa, Scer\GAL4hs.2sev flies alone. Externally the eye is much smoother and in sections most of the cell loss is rescued, although occasional photoreceptor and pigment cell loss is evident. Defects in planar polarity are still prominent.
