Germ cells in HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa; Scer\GAL4elav-C155 embryos migrate ectopically to the CNS.

In HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa; Scer\GAL4elav-C155 embryos an avergae of 12 germ cells per embryos migrate abberantly into the nervous system.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4h-1J3, some PGCs are found in the gonad though many are lost and accumulate in segment A7. The gonadal mesoderm forms normally. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL469B, some PGCs are found in the epidermis. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155, some PGCs are found in the ventral nerve cord. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16, PGC migration is normal. Embryos grow up to be fertile adults.

Ectopic migration of germ cells to the CNS in HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa; Scer\GAL4elav-C155 embryos is not supppressed by Df(2R)Exel6105/+, Df(3L)Exel6108/+, Df(2R)Exel7131/+, Df(3L)ED4283/+ but is partially suppressed by Mdr49KG08611/+, Df(2R)Exel7123/+ or Df(2R)Exel6065/+.

Ectopic migration of germ cells to the CNS in HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa; Scer\GAL4elav-C155 embryos is partially suppressed by Df(3L)ED4486/+. Df(2R)Exel7123/+ or Mdr49KG08611/+.

Expression of HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 can attract germ cells in embryos. This phenotype is still seen in a slamwaldo1 mutant background.

The addition of HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa (driven by Scer\GAL4Appl.G1a) enhances the adult brain degeneration phenotype seen in SNF4Aγloe animals.

Expression of HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4to.PD fails to rescue the lethality found in Hmgcr04684 homozygotes.

Expression of HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Scer\FRT.Act5C completely rescues lethality, but does not rescue the sexual dimorphism.

Expression of HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 is sufficient to rescue both the lethality (partly in males - 75%, and completely in females) and the start/stop number (indicating locomotor activity).

Targeted expression of HmgcrScer\UAS.cvDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Scer\FRT.Act5C and Scer\GAL4Hmgcr.B is sufficient to rescue the sexual dimorphism.
