UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of EatoGD1133 under the control of Scer\GAL4GR1 results in nurse cell clearance defect in mutant stage 14 egg chambers that contain persistent nurse cell nuclei, while in wild-type egg chambers all the germ-line derived nurse cells have undergone programmed cell death and been cleared by this stage. Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16-driven expression of EatoGD1133 does not lead to clearance defects.
Similarly, Scer\GAL4GR1>EatoGD1133 mutants exhibit defects in engulfment of nurse cells by the follicle cells during starvation-induced programmed cell death: While phase 0 and phase 1 egg chambers resemble the control, in phase 3 eggs their follicle cells show fewer engulfed Dcp-1-positive vesicles and by phase 5 the dying mutant egg chambers display severe engulfment defects and follicle cell death, leaving behind completely unengulfed germline. No obvious engulfment defects in dying egg chambers are observed if EatoGD1133 is controlled by Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16.
Adults expressing CG31731GD1133 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
