Expression of ImpGD9232 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg.PU, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage, does not cause any obvious midgut phenotypes, compared to controls.

Flies expressing ImpGD9232 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU have a normal hatching rate and developmental growth. No morphological defects are observed. However, hemolymph trehalose levels are significantly higher than in controls in both a fed and starved state. Normalised whole body trehalose is only increased in fasting conditions. Hemolymph protein concentration is unchanged in both the fed and starved condition.

Flies expressing ImpGD9232 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU consistently show an increase in average and maximum lifespan over that of control flies. Lifespan is reduced compared to controls following starvation. Body size and weight are unchanged.

The expression of ImpGD9232 under the control of Scer\GAL4221, in combination with Dicer-2 for efficient RNAi, results in third instar larval class I abdominal dorsal multidendritic ddaD and ddaE neurons exhibiting no significant difference in the numbers of dendrite branch terminals, as compared to controls.

The expression of ImpGD9232 under the control of Scer\GAL4ppk.PG, in combination with Dicer-2 for efficient RNAi, results in third instar larval class IV abdominal dorsal multidendritic ddaC neurons exhibiting dendrite branch terminals of similar number, but of significantly lower average length, as compared to controls.

Adults expressing ImpGD9232 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
