Adults expressing bmmGD5139 for 2 days under the combined control of Scer\GAL4GMR54H02 and Gal80[ts] (for temporal control of expression) exhibit decreased associative olfactory memory under starvation conditions, but not when fed.

Expression of bmmGD5139 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU leads to an increase in starvation resistance in both males and females while its expression under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 or Scer\GAL4elav.PU leads to an increase in starvation resistance only in males.

Expression of bmmGD5139 under the control of Scer\GAL4sal.BO (in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency) does not result in larval lethality at the L2/L3 transition.

Expression of bmmGD5139 in enterocytes under the control of Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 has no effect on larval hemolymph diacylglycerol (DAG) levels.

Adults expressing bmmGD5139 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
