UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of Sox102FJF02118 results in: microchaetae morphology and distribution defects including misorientation, accumulation of upper dorsal and loss of dorsal centre microchaetae (with the Scer\GAL4pnr.PU driver), courtship behavior defects, reduced brain size and brain tissue degeneration (with Scer\GAL4insc.PU) in adults as well as dendritic arbor morphology defects (reduced dendrite length, arbor surface area and its branching complexity) in dendritic arborizing neuron of third instar larvae (with Scer\GAL4ppk.PU), impaired larval crawling as well as adult climbing abilities along with reduced number of boutons at the larval neuromuscular junctions (with Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42) and compromised larval olfactory perception as assessed by fructose preference assay (with the Scer\GAL4[Tab2-201Y] driver).
Flies expressing Sox102FJF02118 in the heart under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B appear normal at eclosion. 30 day old flies exhibit cardiac hypertrophy, a decrease in size of the heart chamber and a decrease in heart rate and wall velocities compared to controls. This is accompanied by disrupted myofibril structure.
Expression of Sox102FJF02118 in the wing under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in a significant increase in the L2, L3 and wing marginal veins; in particular extra veins are formed in the distal part of L3.
