Cell shape in the leading edge looks less ordered than normal in the mutant embryos during dorsal closure, but the mutant epidermis closes along the dorsal midline with a time course comparable to that of wild-type embryos.

Class I dendritic arborization (da) neurons (ddaD and ddaE) do form primary dendritic branches of normal length. However, both the total length and number of secondary dendritic branches is significantly decreased in the mutant embryos compared to wild type at 20-22 hours after egg laying (AEL), and those secondary branches that have formed in the mutant deviate from the anterior-posterior axis (which the secondary branches tend to elongate along in the wild type). This results in dendrite-free zones being generated between ipsilateral dorsal clusters. At 14-15 hours AEL numerous filopodia emerge from the primary dendritic branches of the mutant ddaE neuron (as occurs in wild type), however, the total length and the number of these immature secondary branches are decreased compared to those of wild type and the secondary branches do not elongate in a straight manner towards the posterior segment boundaries at 16-17 hours AEL.

The dendritic arbor of the vpda neuron appears normal in mutant embryos.

The dendritic arbor of the class IV ddaC neuron is deformed in mutant embryos, which appears to be due to undergrowth along the anterior-posterior axis and/or more biased elongation towards the dorsal midline.

Expression of Rho1N19.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2225 suppresses the reduction in length of secondary dendritic branches which is seen in the ddaE neurons of cv-c1260 embryos at 20-22 hours after egg laying.

Expression of either Rac1N17.Scer\UAS or Cdc42N17.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2225 does not suppress the reduction in length of secondary dendritic branches which is seen in the ddaE neurons of cv-c1260 embryos at 20-22 hours after egg laying.

Expression of any one of cv-cS.Scer\UAS, cv-cS.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP, cv-cL.Scer\UAS or cv-cL.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2225 rescues the dendritic defects seen in the ddaE neurons of cv-c1260 embryos at 20-22 hours after egg laying (the reduction in length and number of the secondary branches is recovered to normal and the directional growth of the secondary branches along the anterior-posterior axis is also rescued).

Expression of cv-cS.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4IG1-1 partially rescues the dendritic defects seen in the ddaE neurons of cv-c1260 embryos at 20-22 hours after egg laying (the reduction in length of the secondary branches is not rescued but the reduction in the number of secondary branches does appear to be rescued to normal).

Expression of either cv-cR601L.S.Scer\UAS, cv-cΔN.S.Scer\UAS, or cv-cΔC.S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2225 does not rescue the reduction in length of secondary dendritic branches which is seen in the ddaE neurons of cv-c1260 embryos at 20-22 hours after egg laying.

Expression of cv-cΔS.S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2225 partially rescues the reduction in length of secondary dendritic branches which is seen in the ddaE neurons of cv-c1260 embryos at 20-22 hours after egg laying.
