The GMR30B01 enhancer fragment followed by the Drosophila synthetic core promoter (DSCP) is fused upstream of the p65(AD)::Zip+ hemidriver (component of a 'split driver' system, contains the p65 activation domain).

In a split-GAL4 system, Hsap\RELAAD.R30B01 drives expression in 5-10 (out of 77) sensillum campaniformium neurons in the proximal part of the wing, a majority of distal 5-6 (out of 8) campaniformium neurons in the distal part of the wing, 7-10 (out of approximately 139) sensillum campaniformium neurons in the halteres and 3-5 (out of approximately 221) mechanosensory neurons that are part of the wing margin bristle when combined with Scer\GAL4DBD.R31H10. Neurons on the wings and halteres send projections to the thoracico-abdominal ganglion, where some ascend to the adult subesophageal zone.
Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1Cs.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with red light) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R31H10 and Hsap\RELAAD.R30B01 elicits significant wing (but not haltere) grooming behavior, compared to controls; this grooming behavior persists after light cessation.
